YSK: CLEAR Security is useless for non-citizens in Seattle since May 7th

Just a heads-up to anyone flying through SEA and relying on CLEAR: since May 7th, you must have a REAL ID (or US Passport) to use their service. Problem is, Washington State doesn’t issue REAL ID to foreign citizens—and Clear doesn’t support foreign passports either.

Worse, the CLEAR staff don’t seem to be aware of this. They’ll still try to process you, only to eventually tell you it won’t work—after wasting your time.

This wasn’t a surprise change. They had plenty of time to prepare. Yet they failed to:

• Support foreign passports, • Offer a manual verification process, or • Properly train their employees. 

Until they fix at least one of these issues, CLEAR is effectively useless at SEA for many international travelers. Save your time (and money) and just go through Spotsaver or something else.
