To the 7 different people in the U district yesterday: you all stopped to make sure I was okay after I tripped and took a very painful fall forward onto the pavement. The first two people who stopped: thank you so much for running back and grabbing my partner out of our parked car who had no idea I fell. To the five other people who stopped and all came up to me in the little time between the first couple and my partner arriving: you all were genuinely concerned about me and ready to call someone and be there for me if need be. I didn’t even see your faces, due to the searing pain and still lying on the ground, but you have no idea how much it meant to me that you all cared enough to stop and truly make sure I would be okay. A few of you gave me shoulder squeezes and wished me well and said I would be okay. You all had no idea, but I’m physically disabled and nuerodivergent. Your kindness created hope and happiness in a moment of severe pain and embarrassment. Thank you all so much. I’m confident my home town would not have been anywhere as kind and helpful. I was lucky I fell in the U-District monday afternoon. Thank you.
