Make it unacceptable for the mayor, police chief, and city council to look the other way when SPD officers inevitably assist ICE. Right now they are saying we’re a sanctuary city but don’t have a plan if cops disobey city laws. SPOG is likely making a plan right now.
Demand consequences —firing or suspension w/o pay— for officers that join with ICE. Less hardcore right officers may stay out. Given history, the punishments will be overturned but it will be months those cops will be unpaid and off the job. 1. Signs at the march (farmers markets next week?) 2. Calls and emails 3. Attend council meetings, put NIMBY looking types in the front rows. Council listens to older homeowners, that’s how it goes.
