I wouldn’t say we’re superstitious (ok, maybe a little stitious), but if you’re hitting the road this weekend, you might be in for some bad luck if you aren’t prepared. Happy Father’s Day Weekend to the dads and dad figures in our lives! Happy Friday the 13th to the spooky ones out there. You know who you are. And happy graduation weekend to all the grads! Celebrate with… lots of traffic. The big closures are just getting started. The jam-packed events aren’t going anywhere. It’s not bad luck. It’s summer construction season, bay-bee. So, here’s what you need to know: -All four lanes of the I-90 Vantage Bridge will be OPEN Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15. -All weekend, northbound I-405 between Renton and Bellevue, and eastbound SR 516 near I-5 in Kent will be closed. The detours are going to be tough going, so plan ahead for added time or use alternate routes. -Eastbound I-90 will be closed between Seattle and Mercer Island Friday night (yes, SR 520 will remain tolled). -SR 202 in Fall City and SR 203 between Carnation and Duvall will be closed Saturday. You’ll be able to get where you need to go, but it could take a while. -Riding a ferry this weekend? Good news: Our summer sailing schedule begins Sunday, June 15, with big changes on two routes. First, Anacortes/San Juan Islands will have new summer timetables. This will complete the first major schedule adjustments on the route in over a decade. Second, Seattle/Bremerton will return to a daily two-boat schedule. -You know what’s more fun than sitting in traffic? Riding the train, duh! Skip all that congestion by riding Amtrak Cascades. If you plan to get through the weekend by burning some incense, slinging some salt over your shoulder or decluttering your living space, go for it. It’s your life. But the best way to prepare for all these superstitious closures and events is to leave early, check our real-time travel map (website) or mobile app (phone) in advance, and pack your patience. Happy weekend! For those who prefer something a bit more, should we say, easier on the eyes, we offer this alternative version! submitted by /u/wsdot |
