PSA: Blue Sky Church summer camp

Summer is here and many kids go off to summer camps and other programs. As a former member (now survivor) of Blue Sky church in Bellevue, I want to warn any families of high school kids who might be invited to attend a summer camp through Blue Sky.

Blue Sky, which I now consider a high control group or cult, is part of an organization called The Network. Blue Sky and The Network were both founded by Steve Morgan, a man who sexually abused a child in his youth group while he was a youth pastor. He was fired, had a 3 year diversion agreement, and then started over as a pastor in a different state, while keeping his previous background hidden. He went on to found Blue Sky church and then moved to Texas to start a church there. Steve Morgan is still the leader of The Network. Blue Sky is a member of The Network and leaders there have remained loyal to Morgan even after news of his criminal background, and other confessions of criminal activity, have become public.

This group of churches is known for their tactics of love-bombing and quickly developing close knit relationships that lead to manipulation and control. There is a doctrine at Blue Sky and The Network to “obey your leader in all things,” with Steve Morgan as the ultimate leader.

If your child is invited to attend youth group or summer camp at Blue Sky, I urge you to read more about Blue Sky and the larger organization it is a part of. There are many websites and news articles describing personal stories of people who have been harmed at Blue Sky and other Network churches, the most prominent is called Leaving the Network.
