I am going through an identity crisis. I have lived in Seattle my entire adult life, but in July I will be moving to… Federal Way.
It makes sense to move. My partner works further south, my work has an office in Auburn, it’s cheaper. A two bedroom costs about the same as my current 1 bedroom, and is twice as big with a balcony. I’m not the sort to go exploring the city, a true homebody, so not being able to walk to the bookstore or a cute coffee shop shouldn’t be the worst.
I just… I don’t like it. It’s not Seattle. I am a city girl at heart. I love the honking cars, busy roads, the forest of towers and trees and apartment buildings. I love being surrounded by that life. But soon I’ll be in this flat area where the only thing nearby is a grocery store. When people ask where I live, I’ll have to say Federal Way. Ew.
(this is a vent, but if you have suggestions on places in federal way/auburn, please let me know)
