Am I the only one who likes using an umbrella?

I grew up in Seattle and loved using my umbrella and galoshes. At some point in time (maybe ~late 90s or a little later), I started hearing how you are not a true Seattleite if you use an umbrella. I still love using an umbrella when it’s raining harder than the spitting rain. It keeps my glasses and clothes dry as long as there isn’t a strong wind. Am I the only one who feels this way?
