Mirror optical illusion at Pride. Break your brain, warm your heart.

This is the optical illusion craft project that I posted the first letter of last week ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/s/GNKZ4ixyNL ). I could never get it to work using the pool at Cal Anderson as a reflecting surface, but it worked fine with mirrors on the ground, even if those were a pain to drag around with me. (Video from my living room when I got it working: https://imgur.com/a/xgEWkDO ) Stopped at the Seattle Center fountain today and a few dozen people took photos with it. Some of them said I could take a photo to post online as well.

For the second picture, I originally took the pieces out to Cal Anderson with the mirrors to get a picture by the fountain, then an Antifa guy (on his way to another protest) stopped to say it looked cool, and I glanced over and gasped when I saw the sign reflected in his shades and asked if I could take the photo. (Funny that this is probably my favorite picture of it, but it doesn’t really use the optical illusion property at all – in his glasses it just looks like a reflection of a normal sign.)

For the third picture, the letters are actually reflecting upward (the awning of Kaye rental agency has a reflective underside) so the people holding the letters had to hold them upside down, and then the whole picture is flipped top to bottom.

So many people worked so hard today to put on amazing shows, build awesome floats in the parade, and sign people up to do the work of fighting for the rights of LGBTQ people the rest of the year. I’m glad my little corner of the event made some people happy.
