hey, so last night I went to Easy Street Records for the first time. I was looking for Submarine by The Marias to give to my cousin as a graduation gift. I’m trying to convince him to go to the Seattle show with me, and I needed a gift for him, so I figured—two birds with one stone.
Anyways, I’ve never been to a record store before, so I decided to try out the famous Easy Street Records on California Ave. I just wanted to talk about the great experience I had. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the smell of French fries. I think there is a café attached to the record shop with beer? I thought that was neat.
There was also a big group doing music trivia night. I asked the cashier, and he said they hold it every other Monday. The host was playing great music, and it was so much fun looking for the vinyl while listening to Peaches by Justin Bieber, A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton, Hooked On A Feeling by Blue Swede, etc. I must’ve been in that store for maybe an hour! there were sooo many records, it was such a blast looking through all the art gathered in one place. Then I found out there was a second floor, and I was pleasantly surprised by all the additional music!
it was such a vibe, and honestly, as I walked out of the store with my record, I couldn’t help but notice all the other stores on California Ave looked just as fun. I’m not from Seattle, but that street in particular looked like such a cool place with a fun energy, parking was hard, though, unfortunately, but that’s true of any major city.
