In the last 10 years, there have been 1,522 crashes that resulted in a community member being injured or killed on Rainier Ave – one every 2.5 days. Yet, the city has not committed to any comprehensive improvements to the corridor, so Seattle Neighborhood Greenways hosted a memorial for future victims of traffic violence yesterday morning. They left behind a piece of public art, consisting of a shovel and a mirror, symbolizing the action the city can take to fix Rainier or the possible next victim if they don’t. If you want to help the cause, please consider sending a letter to our city leaders: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/safety-for-rainier-ave-s News coverage for additional information: https://www.king5.com/article/news/local/seattle-community-calls-urgent-action-rainier-avenue-south/281-9135d8a2-8bae-43ca-8ec3-888269f554ca submitted by /u/WoKao353 |
