Vacancy taxes being proposed by candidates in Seattle and Bellevue

How do you feel about it?

I like it. At first thought I think it’s worked in B.C. so why not do it here?

Only targeting homes that are left empty for 6+ months out of the year, it taxes homes held mainly by foreign investors and out of state people who hold a summer holiday homes here. I don’t see a problem with taxing them more at all.

Increases the supply. Helps tenants with lower rents. Helps the community with more full neighborhoods. And doesn’t even hurt landlords since they’re renting out their units and won’t be affected.

To me, It sounds like a good thing that I hope happens.
