Just watched a video on former Havard Business School Professor Ben Edelman, the “$4 Harvard Professor”. Apparently he fled to Bellevue to escape his past. – Edelman tried to sue a family-run Chinese restaurant over $4. – The owner apologized immediately for the discrepancy between the menu price and what he was charged and refunded his $4, explaining that the menu was in the process of being updated. But despite the apology and refund, Edelman chose to still sue them, arguing he should be paid 3x the difference ($12). – To make sure everyone cared about the inconvenience the $4 caused him, Edelman even wrote a 4000-word paper on it and assigned it to his class as an assignment. – But that backfired as students found him to be an inept and extremely rude professor and went to the media with the story of a Harvard lawyer bullying a family-run restaurant over $4. – He instantly became the internet’s most hated person at the time. He lost his tenure and when things went south with Harvard, Edelman filed a 30-page civil lawsuit against the school, which detailed how even Harvard staff had disciplinary issues with him prior. – He spent 6 months at Microsoft and is now running his own firm based in Bellevue. – If you’re trying to sue local businesses for a petty $4, you’ve found your lawyer!
