Seattle Public Utilities keeps taking my trash can.

Multiple times in the last year Seattle Public Utilities has not returned my trash can to the curb and has driven off with it. It’s highly inconvenient since I share the can with other residents of my building and it takes SPU a week to respond. We can’t take our trash out during that time. Our neighbor was once able to ask why they did it, and the garbage collectors told her it’s because we don’t package our waste correctly. This is incorrect. All our trash is in closed trash bags. We also autopay our bills on time.

So here are my two questions. Does this happen to anyone else, and how do I convince SPU that we are not doing anything wrong and to leave the can alone? I’m considering writing PLEASE RETURN TO CURB on the new can…if they decide to deliver it. Thanks.
