Scoop riders think walking 2 blocks downtown is a human rights violation 🙄
I use Scoop for door-to-door carpools in Bellevue, and lately, it’s been getting ridiculous. I have an allocated parking garage near my office, right off the I-405 exit—super convenient, saves everyone time. From there, I walk a block to my building (because even I don’t have parking in my own building).
Recently, I’ve had multiple riders making faces when I drop them at my garage instead of chauffeuring them directly to their building—which, by the way, is usually within 2 blocks. Two. Blocks. Downtown. Where walking is faster than driving half the time.
On paper, those detours sound harmless, but during peak traffic it’s an extra 5–10 minutes just to loop through clogged downtown streets. Multiply that over a week, and it’s a giant waste of time and gas.
I even suggested to Scoop that they let drivers put a visible note in their profile like: “Drop-off is at the XYZ allocated garage—within 2 blocks of most downtown offices.” That way, riders know upfront and can cancel if it’s an issue.
Their answer? A polite “no,” citing community guidelines saying trips must follow the exact drop-off order in the app unless everyone agrees beforehand. Translation: I’m supposed to negotiate every ride in advance or just suck it up.
I already go out of my way if someone’s office is more than 3 blocks away, but complaining over 1–2 blocks when I’m the one driving through the traffic? That’s peak downtown entitlement.
Am I the jerk here, or does Scoop need to rethink this?
