There was a shooting on my street tonight in broad daylight in South Seattle. I heard automatic gunfire, and my neighbor saw a guy in a balaclava with goggles pointing some sort of assault rifle with a silencer out the back of a Red Dodge Charger. This happened right next to a block party for the boys and girls club. Kids all over the place.
The police actually apprehended three of these guys. But there have been so many shootings around South Seattle this summer and hardly any of it is getting any news coverage. It all feels very much like gang war stuff.
Does anybody have any insight into what is happening? Is there a turf war? Was something in particular going on today (there were multiple drivebys). Why is this summer in particular so bad? And are these just dumbs cliques of kids beefing over an Instagram or Snapchat post? Like how are they finding each other to be running around the city shooting each other but cops can’t find them?!?
