Seeking: Experience with King County Small Claims Court

Our wedding videographer has not delivered our wedding video and raw footage; and it has been more than 1 year since our event. This was a sizable investment (7k$) and we are really frustrated. The contract we signed had a clause that mentioned we are eligible for full refund if video is not delivered within 1 year but we will not receive any video and release videographer of all obligations, if that’s the case.

The memories captured in the video are more important for us than money but we are stuck. They keep postponing the delivery dates and has failed to meet 3-4 promised dates over email. We know we can take them to small claims court and recover the money. Can anyone share a similar experience where they worked with small claims court to get their money back? Is there any other legal recourse we can take other than small claims court and sue for damages?
