TLDR; traffic predictions seem to be horrendously off lately. Why?
I’ve used Google Maps for the better part of 15 years in cities all over the country, and I’ve always found the time predictions to be pretty spot on (as much as I’d hope to beat them when I’m running late). In Los Angeles, it tends to account for traffic perfectly, and drive times for the same route would vary between 30 minutes and two hours depending on the day…..but almost always be accurate to the minute.
Since Revive I-5 started, time predictions here seem to be completely wrong. I’ll set off on a route and find that it takes me 15, 20, 60(!) minutes longer than Google predicts. Sometimes drive times are more than double.
I thought the point of giving up all our personal data was greater convenience. Anyone know what’s up? Or have better luck with other apps?
