I just went in for routine STI testing at the UW sexual health clinic, because it’s a resource for low-income people. I’m 24f. I finally get into the room after scheduling/arriving/checking in and waiting, and she gives me a vague answer about how “it’s meant to serve the community, we generally do it once a year….” (It’s been 8 months since my last, and I have a new partner)
I was finally approved for the state health insurance today, but it hasn’t gone through yet. I’ve had this appointment
I’m just curious why nobody told me at any point beforehand. It’s the only free resource for low income I’ve ever utilized. My job situation has been really tough this year. Is it because I’m not homeless? On drugs or something? Look a certain way?
I’m just curious what I missed, because it made it a shameful experience
…and if anyone knows of any free std/sti testing resources?
