I have rented a unit in Bellevue for almost 3 years, since move in my rate has increased substantially each year. It was $439/mo the first year and Ive just gotten a notice that as of October the rate will be $950/mo.
They claim it’s adjusted to market rate but the same size, and access type unit at the same location is currently advertised at $285/mo.
I have considered just carting all my stuff down the aisle to a new unit, or have options to move out all together which are less convenient.
I called their 800 number today and plainly described my situation and perspective and situation, they have “filed a ticket” internally to review my case.
Im posting here because either way this feels like exploitative business practice, and honestly I cant wrap my head around why a company would want to push out a renter who always pays on time and doesn’t cause any trouble.
Does anyone know of a Bellevue entity I could bring this to? BBB seems like a useless option these days. Not just for my sake but I have to imagine Im not the only one being taken for a ride.
