Over the weekend fences went up around Seven Hills Park for what CHS News describes as a “60-day rest” while the Parks department considers “changes” to the park.
I live directly overlooking this park and as much as I don’t love not being able to use the park I’m also grateful for this. Just a week or so ago there was a massive encampment in the park which wasn’t the end of the world, until they all started fighting with one another which resulted in gunfire and a bunch of police activity. So it certainly calms my nerves to know this won’t happen again at least for the next 60 days.
But, much like the game of whack-a-mole that is sweeps this is only a temporary solution. What do y’all think the city should do/is going to do about it in the long term? CHS speculated they might build a playground but I fail to see how that would discourage encampments or drug dealing in the area. Curious what other people’s thoughts are on the matter.
