I gave my last apartment a 20 day notice before vacating (all in alignment with the lease). I sent the manager an email when I dropped off my keys with my forwarding address, no response. Emailed again a bit later. No response. Emailed a third time, finally got a response saying they would mail the check (this was 23 days after I vacated).
I still haven’t received the check. When I followed up, the manager gave me a snarky email saying she “can’t control the mail” and that she did send it. Another faculty member responded before her, and said they still owed me a refund. Completely contradicting each other.
They are back to ignoring me again. It’s been 43 days since I vacated. I just don’t know what to do anymore, I’m 25 and I haven’t had to do something like this before.
Any gentle advice is much appreciated- this apartment has completely destroyed my mental health due to extreme roach infestation and a man on my floor harassing me. All I want is to move on and leave this place behind, but I really need my deposit back.
