When on a bike isn’t strange to have a couple distracted drivers or pedestrians crossing a bike lane without looking, I like to think theres no bad intentions on it and hoping that most learn on their mistakes.
This weekend I got a car tailgate me on a neighborhood street, I just moved out of the way. Later I almost got ran over while on a shared use street and I noticed the car with more than enough space to pass went intentionally as close to me as possible step on the gas while yelled something at me. This was a 25mph street where I was doing 20mph and he accelerated easily to 40mph. The same day I just got another round of slurs from drivers on a red light.
My question to all is, does cyclist really bother you that much? Or other drivers do and you take it on cyclist?
I drive my car a lot for work and I’ve almost never been “inconvenienced” by cyclist, I get cut off, tailgated and blocked by cars doing illegal maneuvers or just stoping wherever with their hazard lights. As pedestrian we live close to been ran over by scooters or electric vehicles. Not saying cyclist are saints, just saying there are assholes on every way of transport. And next time you are angry because someone made you go 20mph on a 25 for 10 seconds of your precious time, just think you can ruin a life. I challenge you to count how many inconveniences you have a day with other drivers vs cyclist.
P.S. this doesn’t go to all drivers, there are many or you really polite! But if one driver changes his ways for this, could be one prevented accident.
