Hello, I am the organizer of the NE Seattle Tool Library Cider Press. Original posts here:

This event was inspired by my apple tree, which produced a freakishly large harvest, and the existence of Big Bertha, which can be reserved for only $10:

The press was a lot of fun!
As the organizer, all I had to do was collect a shitload of apples, reserve the press, and bring some knives, cutting bowls etc. Other people brought apples and equipment or just showed up to make and drink cider.
I’m looking for ideas for similar low-key social events. No RSVP required, low or no cost, kid friendly, queer friendly, everyone welcome, with an activity everyone can participate in. Ideally located at a community space. A key factor in hosting the cider press is that I didn’t need to clean up my yard or house.
One idea I have thought of is a a “clean out your garage/basement” swap event. What kind of ideas do y’all have?
