Does anyone feel that healthcare groups are pushing hard on opening more urgent care clinics for profit and short-staffing their primary care clinics?

Ever since UW Valley Medical closed the Renton Landing primary care clinic a couple years ago (but kept the urgent care one), I’ve been having a hard time finding a new doctor in a UW Valley or UW Medicine clinic. My primary physician is now in Lake Wilderness, because UW Valley couldn’t find me another doctor within 4 mo when they closed the Landing clinic.

I would love to find someone closer, towards the seattle direction. I get that me finding a new doctor is not an urgent thing, but just today, UW Medicine says it’d take a 6 mo wait to book a wellness check with a new doctor out of all Seattle/Mountlake Terrace clinics.

Are they just pulling more doctors into the rather profitable urgent care clinics and ignoring the primary clinics? Is that the new norm for American healthcare?
