Lemme say many Mariners’ fans already know this story (and may have corrections). But I was busy with hectic back-to-school routines and just caught up on this. I wanted to pass the joy along to others who may have missed these important developments over the past two weeks.
On September 5, 2025 Mariners fan Steven Blackburn, frustrated by the team’s slump (losing 6 of 7 games), tweeted that he had paid $15.99 to an Etsy spellcaster named SpellByLuna to “unf*ck the Mariners.” SpellByLuna confirmed the ritual was complete, describing it as “full of beautiful energies” and urging the buyer to “stay positive and accept the manifestation.”
The very next day, the Mariners exploded offensively, scoring 28 runs over two games against the Braves, including an 18-2 blowout, their highest run total in 13 years. Since the spell, the Mariners have gone on a 10-game winning streak, climbing to first place in the AL West.
The Mariners tweeted “shoutout to the Etsy witch” and a game announcer said, “The Etsy Witch is real!” after one walk-off win. And when fans tried to send Blackburn money to pay him back for the spell, he suggested they donate to the Trevor Project, which provides suicide prevention programs for LGBTQ youth.
