Seattle love for the Savannah Bananas

Wow! I went to both nights of Banana Ball with the Savannah Bananas vs the Firefighters and it might have been the best entertainment experience I’ve ever had!

The fan engagement, the family-friendly shenanigans, the uplifting energy… It was honestly moving. Everyone was involved in all the singalongs, including some of the burly military men sitting next to me, proudly singing along to the Backstreet Boys or happily doing the motions of the YMCA along with everyone else in the sold out stadium, with passion that I wish other sporting events could bring out in their fans.

Before the game and even during the game, the players on the field were playing catch with fans. Tossing footballs and baseballs back and forth to dozens of eager fans, kids and adults alike. Typically, if a player tosses a ball into the crowd, it’s immediately gobbled up. I saw a player toss a ball to a kid, who tossed it back to him, and it went back and forth to probably 15 different people, high and low, before the player ended it by tossing the ball back to the original kid to keep the ball. Just honestly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen at a sporting event! Both nights had different fan-involved events like baby races and grandma gladiators and dancing competitions and it made every single person in that stadium feel included. Not to mention, the players and the brass band were just walking around the concourse interacting with fans. All of this on TOP of damn good baseball! Single A level baseball with amazing plays, where you’re not even necessarily rooting against the opposing team. Just honestly incredible and inspiring and I really want that organization to know how grateful me and my family and friends are for getting to experience such an incredible experience. Thank you, Banana Ball! Thank you, Jesse Cole!!
