In downtown Seattle, I have seen feral teenagers riding everywhere, causing all kinds of trouble. There are multiple threads in this subreddit and others (https://www.reddit.com/r/SeattleWA/s/AJdujKq5wV this is one I actually witnessed) where kids like these are swinging their tiny baby dicks around and causing all kinds of trouble. I am a pedicab operator in Seattle, so I see everything…
A few nights ago, I was giving a ride to some folks to the ferry late night from a concert and a caravan of like 10 teenagers closely followed behind me while I was bumping music from my speakers (I’ve seen this behavior before, doesn’t matter what music I’m playing, I always get followed by different kids every time). Anyhow, something was said between my customers and the scooter gang, and when we pulled up to the ferry dock, one of the kids got right in my customer’s face, and started immediately fighting them. My two other customers tried to pull him off of their friend and the other nine kids all closed in and beat the shit out of them. Meanwhile, I did what I thought was best, called 911 and tried to describe what was happening.
Eventually, the scooter gang fucked off and my customers had blood all over their faces. Miraculously, they didn’t break any bones on my customers. They were pissed off and I told them I would try to wait for the police so I could help them file a report. Thirty minutes passed and no cops ever showed up. Nobody got arrested because the little nazi punks fled the scene on their fast little rideshare scooters down the waterfront and were gone. No accountability at all.
I’ve seen a rise of these stupid kids joyriding around on scooters late at night for hours at a time. I got chased by one of them because they were in my lane on that narrow bike path and told them to stay in their fucking lane (I have an ultra-loud bike horn, the “Loud Bicycle Mini” that I use so people don’t fucking crash into me). They whipped around and started talking shit to me, telling me to get a real job. I told them to get a real scooter so they were like “I’m paying for this scooter to ride it”, in which I responded “You mean, your daddy is paying for it, right?” I outrun them on my pedicab and didn’t see them for the rest of my shift. I closed up, put my pedicab away at my shop downtown and got on my regular bike to commute back home and the same kids recognized me while I was passing by the Space Needle and tried to chase me again. Thankfully, I have an e-bike setup that allows me to go almost 30mph without pedaling, so I outrun them again in a matter of seconds. Anyhow, this will probably just be another angry scooter rant to throw into the reddit pile, so of course nothing will happen, unless we start reporting this stuff to local news stations.
