Anyone else get something like this from their apartments? I'm in Capitol Hill, for reference

For context, my lease is up December 26th. My best friend had mentioned getting her lease renewal months ago and not realizing it and that reminded ME that I hadn’t seen anything come through from my apartments as far as an renewal offer, so I emailed my property manager yesterday about it. This was her response.

I plan to reach back out with some questions, but I’m initially trying to figure out if this means either– A) Once my lease ends on the 26th, I’ll enter into a new 6-month lease term at the same price, then when June comes around, I will have the option to renew for another new term, but for 12 months (which is the length of my lease now) at an increased rate B) lease ends, I enter into a renewed 12 month lease where half of the lease term is at the same rate and the second half will be at an increased rate. I won’t come up for renewal again until Dec. 2026

Long story short, some shit went down in the apartment building that caused me to be displaced (at no fault of my own). After 2 months of phone calls, email threads, and tears, I came just short of taking legal action to force my property management company to reimburse me for the rent I had paid in the unit I was displaced from for the time period of the displacement. They obliged and that book is closed.

I can’t help but wonder if this is retaliation of some kind. It might seem nice to get the next 6 months of rent at the same rate, but I’m worried this offer will put my lease cycle back to starting in the summertime, the most expensive time of the year for rent prices. I worked my way into my lease starting (and ending) in December for that very reason.

Anybody else have some experience with this? Anyone else get a weird “lease renewal” offer like this as well?
