What’s the best way to find the small artists around here?

Hey all! I just moved back to the area after a time away, and one of my goals now that I’m working a decent paying job is to give some money to seeing small artists perform. I’m talking like, the $20 tickets, playing in a cafe or record shop, trying to make a name type of artists. I don’t live in the city proper so catching flyers and things around town is difficult. Anyone know a good resource, ideally online, for finding performers of this caliber? (feel free to plug people you know here, too.) Thanks all!!
