Today, at the Temple of Justice on the Capitol Complex in Olympia, Governor Bob Ferguson announced his appointment of Colleen Melody as Washington’s 100th Supreme Court Justice. She will assume office on New Year’s Day 2026, following the resignation of groundbreaking Justice Mary Yu.
When Ferguson was Attorney General, he asked Melody, then based in the other Washington, to lead the OAG’s new Wing Luke Civil Rights Division. She has been in that role since then.
