My friend lives in a house that is completely overrun by rats. The house has no foundation and the rats have chewed their way into the living space and have chewed holes under every door and are active at night In every room. The house smells of urine. There is feces all over and on the counter tops most mornings. They eat the clothes, all the potted plants. They are eating the cupboards to get into the only actual enclosed space safe to put food in. The landlord did call an exterminator but they only put wire mesh over one hole in the bedroom but there are many open holes that the rats come and go in as they please. What are my friends legal rights. She wants out of the house. Should the owner pay to relocate her? Is the homeowner liable for the chewed up goods. These pictures were all taken today upon returning from being out of town. There is some other shady stuff going on with one electrical meter being split equally between 6 or more houses regardless of the number of residents in a household and their usage. submitted by /u/readytocomment |
