Another one for the surcharge list

For those avoiding restaurants that add service charges to their orders rather than simply including it in the prices listed on the menu, add Harrys Beach House on Alki to your list. Akso; it was my wife’s birthday. When seating is, the host asked if it was a special occasion, and we told them it was her birthday. I made a point to ask (when my wife was in the restroom) if they offer anything special like a candle on the dessert, and they said they definitely do and would do so and would also provide birthday bubbles. They did neither. Also, the guy stood there basically staring me down after handing me the credit card thing with the pre-calculated tip options screen. With other tables, the server did not stand there to watch the customer complete the transaction. Disappointing and frustrating end to what had been a nice evening. Won’t be going back.
