Not because they want to. But because the people that bought the building are pushing them out. Rumor through the grapevine is because daddy wants to give his son a bar to run. Allegedly they’re the same people that ran Flowers in the U District into the ground. The other businesses in the same building get to stay.
The couple that own the place are wonderful. They have potlucks on game days, fundraisers for local charities, hosted local artists, they’re here and know all the regulars. Which there are quite a few of.
My husband and I may be some of the youngest of the crowd here, but everyone will talk with you if you like, or leave you alone if you’re not in the mood.
It’s an old school, neighborhood, midwestern feeling bar and it breaks my heart to see it and its staff go. There is no other community quite like it in a neighborhood slowly being consumed by new buildings. Basically it sucks and I will not be going to the new bar.
Just wanted to let out my frustration.
