Hi all, maybe this is a weird question but:
My in-laws want to move from Reno to somewhere near Seattle to be closer to their daughter and grandkids. They don’t want to live in Seattle itself, but they want to be ~1-2 hours away by car so they can visit frequently.
I don’t know much about the areas surrounding Seattle, being a transplant myself, so I was wondering if folks might have some advice.
- They are in their early 60s
- Coming from a very low cost of living area and hope to keep in the ballpark since they will both be retired
- Love hiking, trail biking, lake activities
- Want space and don’t want to live in a crowded space (hence no interest to be within Seattle city limits)
- They both grew up on farms in Europe and have expressed wanting space to have to grow food
Right now, they are eyeing Whidbey/Camano islands, but they’ve only just started looking. They plan on moving up here in about 2 years and renting for a year to try out areas before purchasing a home.
Any suggestions for areas for them to investigate would be awesome! TIA!
