Thank you for showing up to Activists Assemble

I know many of us are experiencing heavy emotions these days and it’s an extreme understatement to say that these are difficult times.

However, despite everything that has happened, we continue to persevere. Today I saw the community in action and it was truly moving.

I want to extend my thanks to everyone who was able to attend this event today.

Over 50+ groups were involved and many people walked away with knowledge and new connections that they didn’t have before, and perhaps, they also walked away with some hope.

Thank you to Palmira Figueroa of National Day Laborers Organizing Network, Henry Hwang of Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, and Sandy Restrepo of Colectiva Legal for speaking at the closing panel on how we can all do our part to help our immigrant neighbors.

Everyone has a part to play, whether that’s driving people who are too scared to leave their homes to and from doctor’s appointments and immigration hearings, donating money to organizations with people on the ground, supporting businesses of immigrants, or being part of a rapid response group for your neighborhood.

The next WAISN rapid response training is coming up soon. You can learn more and sign up here: https://waisn.org/events/

There are other ways to get involved that don’t require leaving your home either and if anyone wants to get connected to an organization, please feel free to comment below or message me.

If you weren’t able to attend today and want to get involved with a group, a list of the organizations involved can be found here: https://northseattleprogressives.org/activists-assemble-connect-locally/

Thank you again to all of the organizers, specifically the main one, North Seattle Progressives, and thank you to Shorewood High School for hosting this crucial event.

Together, we are strong.
