EDIT: I was on the fence abt specifying ethnicity but I think they were Pakistani as well- the mother was wearing fancy traditional salwar kameez.
Hi for context I moved to Bellevue from Austin for an ARNP position in a local hospital system. I am a Pakistani Muslim woman but not very religious. I was at popular but expensive bag boutique store (idk can’t find better words for it and don’t want to expose myself) at Bellevue Square a few weeks ago window shopping for purses/bags I wanted to save up for. I thought I was dressed normally in athletic wear, leggings and a lulu zip up (which I saw many other people wearing). Halfway through looking around the store, I hear laughing behind me and turn around. It’s this brown woman and who I assume are her husband and kids, and they’re filming me! Like what?!?! I’ve never experienced this before ever, even in Texas, which can be racist in certain areas.
I walked over to them and asked them if everything was okay and if they could stop recording me. The wife and husband started talking in Urdu as if I couldn’t understand them and were insulting me, my looks, and my clothing. I was so so embarrassed, all I could do was stand there frozen. They kept on laughing at me and making fun of me as they left. After a few minutes I finally made my way to an associate but by that time they were long gone and I had no more energy to pursue it, as much as I regret it. The worst part were their children were laughing too, what a terrible example to set for them
Fast forward to a few days ago; I’m over this because I have other stuff going on in my life and tbh they’re nothing to me. I’m scrolling thru TikTok on my day off and guess who the heck I see? The same family acting super gaudy and better than everyone else, also having some questionable political beliefs. If they’re successful I 100% support that; but it seems weird. I won’t release their names-even though they deserve that. If anyone knows of a couple in Bellevue with the first initials R and S please contact me, I can’t be the only one this has happened to. Thankfully they didn’t post me but I’m still so upset. Please message me if anything like this has happened to you
Before y’all say anything I know should’ve acted quicker and posted this before. Regardless of if you’re a child or an adult, bullying is unacceptable. If there’s another subreddit y’all can direct me to it would be great, sorry for the rant.
