This was from the South King Street End Park on the west shore of Lake Washington, which appears to be the only publicly accessible vantage point on land to get this image. Any further south, and the train dips below the car lanes on the bridge; any further north, and the trees appear between the train and the mountain (nothing ugly about that, but you lose the effect of the train “touching” the mountain). This video of course is just pinch-zooming with an iPhone and then cropping even further so a real zoom lens would make it look a lot better. (I was about to post this and then the post from u/TechnicalFeedback3 at https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1t13ayh/sunset_rainier_from_seatac/ with a similar shot from the airport, with the light rail against Mount Rainier.) p.s. I just googled “light rail in front of Mount Rainier” to see what other angles people had found, and this person independently discovered the exact same spot for getting this photo: submitted by /u/bennetthaselton |
