Yesterday at work I found an adult chickadee dead on the steps. Far enough away from a window, and seemingly completely unharmed so I don’t think it was a window impact. No other obvious injury, just eyes open on its back with its feet up and wings to its side. Put it in the compost like I’ve read to do with small birds. Then today I found this little guy just sitting on the side walk. It wouldn’t move or do anything no matter how close I got – closest was maybe a foot away. By the time I heard back from Paws wildlife about what to do with it, I had to be at work and my partner said it was no longer there when they checked. I asked and the Paws employee said it was unlikely to be HPAI. I’m going to call and report these two incidents to the department of fish and wildlife tomorrow, but wanted to see if anyone else is seeing anything like this around the city? submitted by /u/uummmmmmmmmmmok |
