I was going up stone way coming home from work, when a black van whipped halfway into a spot in front of me just past the intersection at 41st street. They were behind me before the intersection, and they sped in front of me to parallel into the spot. They ended up half-way into the bike lane feet/seconds before I was getting into the same spot, so I had to get into the car lane to get around them.
However, the 62 bus was right behind them, and before I knew it I was wedged between the bus and this van. There were inches between me and the bus and the car on either side for the whole time I had to pass the car. Luckily the bus had gotten over slightly into the center lane. I think he only knew to because he had pulled up next to me at the stop before, so he knew I was there. If he hadn’t I don’t think I would still be here.
I don’t know what else I could have done differently. I was climbing uphill hill but still going over 10 mph, and I had seconds to stop (don’t think that was feasible) or get over. I didn’t see the bus until I was getting over, and by that point I was between the bus and the car.
