From humble beginnings as a busker in Ireland, Hansard went on to fame as founder of the Irish rock band The Frames and won an Oscar for the song “Falling Slowly” in the movie Once. He passed away today at 56 from.a motorcycle accident in Dublin. Humble throughout his life and supporter of many charities, his loss is a big one for the self-made music community.
