It feels like an atypical situation where BOTH the more progressive and more moderate citizens all can agree that Barnes’ lack of presence in the city is just unacceptable outright.
There is just no way that isn’t radically popular given how basic the ask is.
Yet City Council doubles down on criticizing Mayor Wilson on his firing.
I have my own reservations with Wilson, but her ask for a homegrown candidate for a lead role is so unbelievable reasonable – and it’s clear SPOG is just a mess, constantly strong-arming the city.
So what to do? Contact your council member I guess… There has to be some way to demand police reform without council getting skittish.
