So I got my butt kicked in Belltown over weekend by an angry driver upset that I was crossing the crosswalk too slowly. That is a story on its own, however I’m here about my experience with paramedics.
Is it normal for the paramedics to say one thing, and then ask you to sign a release that says the exact opposite? In my case I said I was drinking + adrenaline and I’d take whatever advice they recommended as far as transportation, they said I seemed fine. I said ok and then they presented a release for signature that I was not following their recommendation for transportation and that I refused treatment. Thankfully the responding officer was already there and recording. I asked both paramedics and the officer if they were asking me to lie, they all said no – they left without requiring a signature. They also never evaluated me and I later went to the hospital on my own and needed a few stitches.
I bring all this up because I think about all the other folks that may not have the awareness of what they are signing while medics lie to their face and ask them to sign a release. What are your thoughts seattle? Am I making a big deal out of nothing?
