PSA: double check your Lime receipts. You may be getting charged for donations without your consent.

I grabbed a Lime bike today to get down and back from SLU, and was surprised to find the cost of the ride was higher than I expected. When I checked the receipt, I noticed they automatically rounded up the subtotal to include a donation to Seattle Streets Alliance.

I have no issues with donating to a good cause, but the frustrating thing was that there was no notice they would round up, and no opportunity to opt in or out. Had I not checked the receipt, I never would have known. It looks like they automatically enrolled me in “Lime Heros” without my consent. I have to assume this was a bug because I never even knew this feature existed. It makes me wonder how many people have been unknowingly overcharged for their rides.
