I was running greenlake tonight. I never run at night but was waiting for the temp to cool off. I was on the inside track between the boathouse and bongos. I was running North, closest side to the lake. I saw the owl swoop a couple walking in front of me. It was massive. We stopped to try and look for it in the trees. I told them to have a good night and kept running. I then felt the talons on my head – it didn’t claw me, take out any hair or leave a mark but thoroughly scared the shit out of me. The couple that had been walking had seen it come down on me. I was wearing a ponytail with no hat. It happened around 8:30 PM. Just wanted to make other walkers / runners of greenlake aware! I know other parks have signs to beware but I haven’t seen any around Greenlake.
