HEADS UP: Southbound I-405 will CLOSE from Bellevue to Renton this weekend, Sept. 25-28

Another busy weekend is coming up on I-405, with a full southbound closure between Bellevue and Renton plus additional work in Kirkland and Bothell.

Here’s what you need to know:

BELLEVUE to RENTON: SOUTHBOUND I-405 CLOSED

All lanes of southbound I-405 will close from Coal Creek Parkway SE in Bellevue to North 30th Street in Renton from as early as 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28.

Several ramps within the closure will also be closed.

Crews will work on drainage, replacing pavement and completing a traffic switch as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

A signed detour will be in place, but if you’re traveling through this area, expect extra traffic on alternate routes and give yourself extra time.

KIRKLAND: NE 132ND STREET INTERCHANGE CLOSED

Farther north, the northbound and southbound I-405 ramps at NE 132nd Street will close from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. NE 132nd Street underneath I-405 will also be closed.

Crews will restripe lanes through the interchange and roundabouts. Signed detours will be in place.

BOTHELL: OVERNIGHT LANE REDUCTIONS + ROLLING SLOWDOWNS

Up to three lanes of southbound I-405 between SR 527 and SR 522 will close from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday and again from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.

During those closures, crews will also conduct rolling slowdowns from 12:01 to 4 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, temporarily stopping traffic for up to 15 minutes at a time.

If you’re traveling on I-405 this weekend, check your route before you go and give yourself extra time. The full southbound closure between Bellevue and Renton will be the biggest impact, but there’s work happening at several points along the corridor.
