I see complaints in Seattle about the escalators always breaking at the light rail stations, but have never used them. Now that they’re in Bellevue, I noticed the escalators run 24/7, non stop. Not only does this consume way more electricity than is necessary, but it has got to cause them wear out much sooner.
Nobody in the stations, crickets, but the escalators are all running all the time. Is Sound Transit flat out stupid? I just can’t think of any good reason for this.
