Teenagers interested in robotics are invited to check out regional club Skunk Works Robotics – but do it soon! Here’s their invitation:
Skunk Works Robotics is starting its 21st season and would like to invite interested students to fill out our interest form to set up a visit to one of the team’s meetings. No experience is necessary. An interest in STEM is useful but not required. The team needs students interested in programming, design, fabrication and electrical to create a competitive robot but it also needs students to photograph and record video, design marketing materials and devise the team’s game strategy.
Each year in January, FIRST creates a new game and field for FRC teams around the world. Teams have about 7 weeks to analyze the game, come up with a strategy and start working on their robot. In the Pacific Northwest, teams compete in two district events in March. Teams that do well, move on to the district championships and hopefully the world championships.
The team meets on the Highline College campus. If it sounds like fun to work on tight deadlines and learn from other students and mentors to solve problems for a game you’ve just learned the rules for and played with 150 lb. robots that can move as fast as 20ft/sec…contact us and come in for a visit. Please contact us by October 23rd. Click on our flyer for a QR code or use this link.
