Just a PSA, this is a common thing by right wing bot farms and misinformation groups, right before an election, to drum up the most basic kind of fearmongering. These posts in the sub are even coming from accounts that have already been deleted for spam.
These are tragedies, but their sudden widespread ubiquity is nefarious, and they use these posts with high engagement to create an echo chamber that builds up to reach a greater audience. Just engaging with them in a “no, actually” kind of way is fueling their algorithmic legitimacy.
It sucks that these tragedies happen and we should always be doing more to try to stop them, but be mindful of your internet hygiene, because nobody is immune to propaganda, and you can even inadvertently spread it.
