they want our blood

I donate blood at Bloodworks Northwest and they send out a lot of emails with bonus offers like this! I usually trade for gift cards but they also offer you to trade in for a solar power back right now. They usually run a giveaway every couple of months for vacations or gas cards too.

Generally if they’re asking for blood, that means the need is high for all categories of blood donations. Did you know platelets are really important to give to people undergoing chemo, burn treatments, and bone marrow transplants but platelet donations only have a 1 week shelf life?? That means they need a constant supply of donors to help our neighbors. Let’s do our part by laying in a comfy chair for a couple of hours and getting free snacks!

I promise I’m not a reddit plant for bloodworks nw but I do want to collect all their badges online so if you want to donate and you sign up with my referral code ( EOY5IKE ) I can get the referral badges… Slide 2 has some of my badges I’ve earned and slide 3 has some of the badges you can earn this month!

Bonus Fun Blood Facts:
The average adult is 7-8% blood by weight
Though we really only talk about 8 blood types, there’s over 600 identified blood types that have rare antigen variations (antigen = cell name tag (type) so other cells can recognize and interface with it)
Red blood cells make up about 45% of your blood volume
White blood cells make up less than 1% of your blood volume
