With more than 150,000 residents, Bellevue would likely have its own daily newspaper, TV news and more if it wasn’t across the lake from Seattle. While Seattle is 5x larger than Bellevue, looking at the Seattle Times and KiroTV archives – Seattle warrants 40 x (Seattle Times) or 10 x (KIRO) the reporting over the past ~20 years. Effectively that appears to mean that stories in Bellevue need to have 2 to 8 times the perceived importance to get reported.
What gets missed as a result? Does it matter? What can we as a community do about it if it does matter?
